The Humans In Space Challenge, hosted by Boryung, identifies and supports startups and researchers building solutions for healthcare in deep space as well as innovations that can transform medicine on Earth. Seventeen startups and researchers worldwide were selected as first-round winners for their work addressing critical health challenges for long-duration human spaceflight and extreme environments. OUI Medical’s core technology, P-Scope, is a portable, disposable endoscope that enables direct visualization of the abdominal cavity under local anesthesia at the bedside. Originally designed to accelerate diagnosis of abdominal emergencies in ICUs and emergency departments on Earth, the technology is being explored for managing acute abdominal conditions in space, where limited surgical infrastructure and evacuation constraints make rapid, minimally invasive diagnostics essential.
